If you’ve added a new fur-kid to your family, you’ll want to join us at Barley’s for this 5 week training course designed to teach your puppy basic obedience skills, manners and socialization in a fun, interactive training style. This class is modeled after AKC’s Star Puppy Training course, focusing on socialization as a main component of training for good manners in every environment. These classes prepare you and your pup for a lifetime of fun, engaged learning, free from pain or punishment – we want our dogs to ENJOY training!
This class is best suited for puppies 3-12 months of age, with current vaccinations, including Rabies.
AKC Urban CGC (CGCU)

The Urban CGC title recognizes those dogs who are well trained and have good manners in a public setting. This test can be taken after a dog completes the AKC CGC or at the same time.
AKC Urban CGC requires that the dog demonstrate CGC skills (and beyond!) in an urban setting. As with Canine Good Citizen, AKC Urban CGC has a 10-step test of skills that dogs must pass to earn the official AKC Urban CGC title. This is a title that appears on the dog’s title record at AKC, and fulfills the requirement for Public Access. The class covers all of the items on the test with practice in an urban setting. We will meet at various locations, near to Barley’s, such as public parks and dog friendly businesses. The first class will be held at Barley’s.
Training for the standard CGC Test can be done along with the Urban class, for an additional fee. This is an advanced level class, if you aren’t sure whether your dog is ready for this class, or if you have any additional questions, contact Suzy at [email protected].
Basic Obedience + Intro to CGC

$150 for 5 week course
Join us at Barley’s for this 5 week course on Basic Obedience for you and your dog. We’ll cover the basics of obedience training such as Sit, Down, Come, Focus and Loose Leash walking, as well as ways to trouble shoot problem behaviors. We will also introduce Canine Good Citizen prep work to get your dog started with polite public behavior, in any situation.
All you need is your dog, standard leash, collar or harness, and some treats!

*One handler per dog in each training class please .. In accordance with CDC recommendations, masks and hand sanitizing will be required (we will provide a mask and sanitizer if needed). Please help us and others stay safe and healthy by maintaining the 6 foot social distancing rules. There has been no evidence of dogs transmitting covid-19 to humans, current recommendations for additional protection with pets is to sanitize leashes and collars, and use puppy bath wipes for a quick wipe down following interactions with people. Do not use human sanitizers!!!
